Quotations from the Artword

'Ms. Miller's work is characterized by a wonderful color sensibility and a great feeling for design. In her drawings she has a remarkable ability to address the entire sheet with a few firm lines, to energize and activate the entire paper surface. That same ability is evident in her paintings, there coupled with a feeling for the fluid texture of paint and a capacity to harmonize striking combinations of hues. In her figure paintings, all this is put to the service of a telling and at moments disturbing psychological insight.'

--Jeremy Strick, Director, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles

'....from my experience as a curator, Sarah has a comprehensive and exquisite body of work. Her figurative art is quite impressive as well as her abstract work. In addition, she catches the human figure in black and white photography in a magical way.'

--Jose Delannoy, Curator, Pablo Casals Museum, Puerto Rico

'...Sarah is an artist of staggering imagination and breadth. Her series paintings of athletes and musicians are stunning examples of her ability to fuse gesture with contemporary and popular culture. Her most recent multi-media work, Flash, completed while in Puerto Rico demonstrates Sarah's continuing evolution as one of the country's leading artists.'

--Eric Wallack, Internationally renowned improvisational artist

'...it is Sarah's extremely contemporary use of space in her painting and photography that has been most insightful to me. Her incorporation of empty space in her painting is unique......it's obvious that her strong painterly vision comes through in her photography. The way she combines graffiti and the environment into a unified, but often chaotic picture plane makes it look as if it were a painting.'

--Jack Doehring, University of Michigan, School of Art & Design
